A Day out in Sudbury

Set on the River Stour, this ancient market town is surrounded by water meadows. Sudbury has thrived on the textile industry, firstly with wool and then with silk.

The famous artist Thomas Gainsborough was born here in 1727. You can visit Gainsborough's House in the market place, an elegant Georgian townhouse, which displays more of the artists work than any other gallery. Enjoy the walled garden and print workshop - http://www.gainsborough.org/

For some outdoor fun go on a boat trip on the River Stour. 'Rosette' is the elegant electric launch designed in Edwardian style, and will take you through the picturesque water meadows to Ballingdon, Cornard and Henny.
