Farm Stay East Anglia

A Day Out in and around Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire

Set on the River Stort, this ancient market town has many fine 16th/17th C buildings, and the remains of a Norman Castle. This Castle mound, built by William 1 is set in gardens just minutes from the town.

Not far away at Stansted Mountfitchet you can visit the fabulous Mountfitchet Castle and brick tower windmill built in 1787, and still containing most of the original machinery.

At Stanstead Abbots Rye Meads RSPB Nature Reserve has a wide range of wetland habitats and is ideal for family visits. The reed bed, open water and meadows attract many different birds.

At nearby Much Hadham The Henry Moore Foundation has a sculpture garden and studios with a permanent exhibition of monumental sculptures by Henry Moore.

If you are keen to venture further afield the de Havilland Aircraft Heritage Centre is a fantastic place to visit. The museum shows the restoration and preservation of a range of de Havilland aircraft, including the prototype mosquito.

We have several farms near Bishops Stortford & Stansetd at Hatfield Heath, Hatfield Broad Oak, Philpot End near Great Dunmow, Great Canfield, and Bannister Green Felsted.
